All the Vietnamese government offices close at the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) including the Vietnam Embassies or Consulates in abroad and the Vietnam Immigration Department as well. In consequence of this shutting down, the normal processing visa requests will be held until to Monday next week.
What should UK citizens do before making Vietnam trip?
All travelers wishing to travel Vietnam are advised to check if they do need a Vietnam visa or not. If they are not in the list of the countries whose citizens are Vietnam visa exempted, they are obliged to apply for Vietnam visa prior to arriving the country.
One more important thing should be noticed is that Vietnam visa on arrival can be obtained at arrival airports with a visa approval letter issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department. You couldn’t board the flight and of course, it is impossible to get a visa if you don’t have a Vietnam visa approval letter beforehand.
From Singapore, the UK passport holders can apply for Vietnam visa by 2 options:
Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, Singapore
Address: 10 Leedon Park St., SINGAPORE 267887
Phone: (65) 64625994
Fax: (65) 6462 5936
Email: vnemb@singnet.com.sg
Note:
Office hours: Monday – Friday
Morning: 8.30 AM – 12.00 PM
Afternoon: 2.30 PM – 5.30 PM
Visa hours: Monday – Friday 9.00 AM – 12.00 PM
However, visa application at the Vietnam Embassy in UK will take about 4-5 working days (except Saturday and Sunday) and it might NOT be helpful in this case when you do need a visa in just a few hours. Therefore, applying for emergency Vietnam visa on arrival is most likely your right choice.
Visa picked up at arrival airports in Vietnam with an approval letter issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department. Please go online to make an application here: http://www.e-vietnamvisa.com/apply.html
What is the processing fee for Vietnam visa weekend?
The processing fee that the UK applicants have to pay to the Vietnam visa agency for the letter of approval at the weekend is much higher than the fee for visa processed in working days. Normally, a visa done in 36 – 48 hours from Monday to Friday costs US$ 17 per visa only. At the weekend, it is nearly 10 times to normal rates, from US$ 130 to US$ 150 per visa excluded stamping fee which will be paid by yourself at arrival airports. Therefore you are strongly recommended to apply for Vietnam visa as soon as possible. In case you are stuck at the airport at weekend or holidays, please change your flight to have more time for Vietnam visa arrangement. If it is impossible to delay the flight then we are willing to assist you at our best.
How can UK citizens get an approval letter on Saturday or Sunday?
The UK citizen is not in the Vietnam visa exemption list therefore they must have a visa to enter Vietnam. Unfortunately if you don’t know this regulation and now your flight to Vietnam is going to depart in next few hours at the weekend, what would you do?
Obviously, on working days, a visa can be applied at the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore. However, the Vietnam Embassy office will not open at weekend to make it for you.
We are delighted to inform that visa on arrival can be processed anytime between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM at weekend or
holidays which helps UK citizens wishing to enter Vietnam getting an emergency visa effectively. Perhaps it is not difficult for you to make a decision: canceling the flight or paying additional processing fee to get a visa since the cost of changing your flight and possible canceling your reserved trip far outweighs the price you pay for the emergency visa.
Vietnam visa on arrival processed at the weekend has been approved by the Vietnam Immigration Department with an authorized approval letter therefore it is quite legitimate like the visa processed on working days.
In order to apply for an emergency visa on Saturday or Sunday, the UK visitors should follow some simple steps:
1. Check your current local time and Vietnam time:
Please notice that, urgent visa at the weekend may take 2-3 hours (from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM every Saturday and Sunday) to process. If time is not enough or the requests rise at the night time in Vietnam, it can not be processed.
2. Get the online application form filled in
3. Make a payment via PayPal or Western Union as guidance (the bank wire transfer is not available at the weekend normally)
4. Get the visa approval letter delivered within 2-3 hours via email
5. Print out the letter, bring with your passport, 2 passport sized photos and some USD for stamping fee to board the flight and get a visa stamped on the passport.
Welcome to Vietnam and please do remember to apply for a visa soon in your next trips to Vietnam.
