Vietnam visa guide for Tet holiday 2017
On Vietnamese Tet Holiday 2017 the Vietnam Immigration Department has 7 days off (from 26 January 2017 until the end of 1 February 2017). During these days, all the visa approval process will be stopped except the emergency overtime visa service.
Vietnamese entry visa is required for most foreigners. It allows the visa holders to enter and exit Vietnam at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc airports. If the travelers are going to travel Vietnam in January, they are highly recommended to apply for a visa early to skip missing their visa application during Vietnamese traditional Tet Holiday. Below list of thing you should remember for Vietnam visa application during Tet Holiday 2017:
There are some nations don’t need a visa for Vietnam for 15 days to 30 days. If you are in the list, you don’t worry about visa process any more:
- Brunei, Myanmar passport holders are exempted from Vietnam visa for 14 days;
- France, Italy, Germany, Spain, UK, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Finland passport holders are exempted from Vietnam visa for 15 days;
- Philippines passport holders are exempted from Vietnam visa for 21 days;
- Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos passport holders are exempted from Vietnam visa for 30 days.
Only emergency visa service available during Tet Holiday if you need to get the visa for the entry from 26 January 2017 until 1 February 2017. Normal service will run again on 2 February 2017.
Don’t forget that you are granted a lifebuoy when you travel Vietnam on Tet Holiday while all the Vietnam Embassy is closed. It is Vietnam visa on arrival. There is no point in worrying about its validity as it is the Vietnam Immigration Department, not any travel agents that is able to approve your Vietnam visa on arrival. Accordingly, you will not receive full visa before departure to Vietnam, but the visa approval letter that will allow you to get full visa later at the arrival airport in Vietnam.
To be sure about the type of your visa is very important. It will help you to save a lot of time and money. In case you are going to fly into Vietnam first and travel Laos or Cambodia then come back to Vietnam for flight home, remember to use multiple entry visa. Otherwise, you will have to apply for a new one when come back to Vietnam on the way home.
Please remember to bring some cash (25 USD for single entry visa or 50 USD for multiple entry visa) to pay for the stamping fee at the arrival airport in Vietnam. The immigration counter at arrival airport doesn’t accept the payment with credit card or PayPal thus you should prepare some USD in advance.
