Tet is the biggest holiday of Vietnamese families
Tet is the celebration of Vietnamese New Year, the country’s biggest holiday and their first day of the spring. Tet is an occasion for pilgrims and family reunions, to hope for a better upcoming year. During Tet, many foreign tourist arrives in Vietnam to enjoy many customs practiced such as visiting a person’s house on the first day of the new year, ancestral worship, wishing New Year’s greetings, giving lucky money to children and elderly people and opening a shop. If you intend to travel Vietnam these days you should read the instruction on Vietnam visa below to avoid any inconvenience and cost of visa mistake:
1. Does Vietnam visa counter open during Tet?
Yes, the visa counter at arrival airport opens 24 hours x 7 days, even at weekend or holidays to issue entry visa for foreigners. You don't worry about this. However, the number of people use visa on arrival at the holidays is much higher than the normal days. If you don't want to waste your time standing in line in front of visa counter, you should order the visa fast track service to skip this lenghty process.
2. Is the e-visa system working online by Tet?
The e-visa system still open to receive your visa request, however you can not get e-visa during Tet holiday. The Vietnam Immigration Department will back to work on January 29, 2020 thus all the e-visa will be delivered within 3 working days afterwards (propose to send to your email by February 3, 2020 as the earliest).
3. What can I do if I need an entry visa by these days?
There is only option that will help you to get an entry visa during Tet holiday, it is visa on arrival service. In order to apply for an emergency visa on arrival, you need to follow the instruction below:

No, you can not. Your information on e-visa must be totally the same as it displays on your passport. If there is any error such as wrong date of birth information, spelling mistake in full name... your e-visa will not be valid. You will need to apply for new e-visa (if you got enough time) or apply for visa on arrival instead.
6. Can I apply for 3 months visa on arrival on Tet holiday?
No, there is only 30 days, single entry tourist visa on arrival is available during Tet holiday. The 3 months visa and business visa will be processed when the Vietnam Immigration Department reopens.
